The first photograph was taken in 1827

The oldest known known photograph was taken by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce in 1827. The image represents the view from a window from the top of his estate in Burgundy in France.

Thomas Edison and WKL Dickson introduced the first film camera in 1894. But the first projection of an image on a screen was made by a German priest: in 1646, Athanasius Kircher used a candle or an oil lamp to project hand painted images on a white screen.
