A human skeleton is completely renewed every 10 years

The bone is a dynamic organ, in permanent regeneration: the old bone is periodically destroyed and eliminated thanks to specialized cells, the osteoclasts, while new bone material is manufactured by another category of cells, the osteoblasts. Through this process, called remodeling, the bone cells regenerate continuously (with a “bone peak” around 20-30 years) and the skeleton of an adult is completely regenerated every 10 years.
